Why Astra exists

The story matters more than the spec sheet. Astra is being built so that one day a friend can sit down at their own computer and feel calm, not interrupted.

It is local-first because trust starts at home. It is honest because integrity is non-negotiable. It is warm because software should welcome you, not harvest you.

Most operating systems are built around engagement — notifications, telemetry, subscriptions, upsells. Astra is built around the opposite idea: that the best tool is the one that quietly does its job and gets out of the way.

This is a slow, deliberate project — closer to a workshop than a launchpad. There is no investor roadmap, no growth target. Just a belief that something more honest is worth building, one line at a time.
